What is Coronavirus?

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a hot issue nowadays. Coronavirus is in fact a family of viruses and not a single entity. The virus which causes flu is also a member of the Corona family. This novel Coronavirus is an evolved form of previous Coronavirus. The mutation has changed the structure of Coronavirus and made it very dangerous. This epidemic is known as COVID-19 and is caused by a virus named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Wuhan was the first city of China where is the root of the commencement of this disease in December 2019. On 30 January 2020, it was declared as the outbreak of International concern. It is documented and registered as a pandemic on 11 March 2020. From the commencement of the disease till now, 1.44 million patients have been reported throughout the world. From which 308,000 patients are not patients now i.e. they have recovered and 83,400 people have died approximately.

Ways of spreading Coronavirus

The main thing regarding this virus is that this is not an airborne virus. It means that this cannot travel through air from one place to another one which is a good sign for stopping the spread of Coronavirus, otherwise this would have been covered a long distance within no time. The main spreaders of the Coronavirus are the people who got infected by this. When an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks then small droplets are formed and they may go to the person which is in close vicinity. During breathing, these droplets can be formed also. Although, these tiny droplets fall down to ground and I said above they cannot get transferred by air over big distances.

Coronavirus Symptoms

Shortness of breath, fever and cough are some common symptoms of the disease. Acute respiratory distress syndrome and pneumonia are some complications in the later stages. Normally, it takes five days from the time of exposure to the beginning of symptoms, but it can take 2 to 14 days to onset. There is no exact cure is present as no vaccine has yet been discovered regarding Coronavirus. Supportive therapy and symptomatic cure is the primary treatment in this particular case. But if someone will be in touch with those spaces where these droplets have fallen, then he or she can get infected by the virus. 72 hours is the survival period of this virus. The first three days of the Coronavirus are of most concern as the virus is most contagious during this phase. Through an infected person, it can spread even before symptoms appear and in advanced stages of the disease. Shortness of breath, fever and cough are some common symptoms of the disease. There are some preventive measures which are recommended by the World Health Organization i.e. washing hands, maintaining distance from others, covering the mouth when coughing. If a person has a suspect that he or she has got infected, then self-isolation is the best solution recommended. The quarantines, curfews, travel limitations, workplace exposure control and closure of different services are some measures which have been implemented worldwide.

Schools, universities, factories, industries and other corporations have been closed due to this pandemic. Almost in 193 countries, more than 1 billion students are out of their institutions, it’s been 99.4%of the total population of students. Several religious events, cultural events and sports events are postponed, delayed or canceled due to fear of spreading of this virus. Due to which, these organizers tolerated a huge loss.

Coronavirus Fake News

Bad people are everywhere in the world and they always try to destabilize the peace and harmony among the countries. Same in this case, false news has spread about the COVID-19 which resulted in the nationalism, racism and discrimination against the people of East and Southeast Asians especially Chinese. On the other hand, there is a lot of rumor about Coronavirus (COVID-19) on social media and even some quacks have discovered the perfect treatment (false saying by them, they are just attention seekers) for the disease.
